Matt handles complex commercial cases at the trial and appellate levels.
Matt graduated with high honors from the University of Texas School of Law,
where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Texas Law Review.
After graduation, he clerked for Judge Samuel B. Kent in the U.S. District
Court for the Southern District of Texas and for Judge Michael W. McConnell
on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Before joining Reeves
& Brightwell, he worked as a litigation associate with Vinson &
Elkins LLP. Matt has worked on cases involving contract disputes,
fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition, trademark infringement,
trade secrets, media and First Amendment law, ERISA, and complex issues of
civil procedure and conflict of laws.
Representative Matters
- Assists in the representation of major computer manufacturer in
several class actions alleging product defects and unfair
pricing practices
- Assists in the representation of major semi-conductor manufacturer
in breach of contract/breach of fiduciary duty litigation
- Assisted in the representation of a media company against claims of
misrepresentation and negligence brought by a member of a social
networking website
- Assisted in representation of a geophysical services company in
trademark infringement case against foreign and domestic companies
operating in the Gulf of Mexico
- Assisted in representation of an investment bank against claims of
misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair
competition, fraud, and breach of contract in a submission-of-ideas case
- Assisted in the representation of an electronics manufacturing company
in the pursuit of commercial claims against a semiconductor manufacturer
and in the successful opposition to a petition for writ of mandamus
before the Texas Supreme Court
- Assisted in the representation of defendants in national ERISA class
actions
- Assisted in representation of the plaintiff on a breach-of-contract
claim against a fractional jet ownership company
