Reeves & Brightwell attorneys have significant appellate
experience. We have litigated appeals before various Texas courts
of appeals, the Texas Supreme Court, the federal appellate courts, and
the appellate courts of other states. Recent successes include
affirmances of dismissals under Rule 12(b) from both the 9th
and 11th Circuit Courts of Appeals, and affirmance of a motion
to compel arbitration by the New Mexico Court of Appeals. Our
attorneys have argued multiple cases in various appellate courts, and we
are experienced in representing clients with direct appeals, interlocutory
appeals, and petitions for mandamus.
Because much of our commercial practice involves dispositive motions, we
prosecute and defend our own appeals. We believe that the best trial
lawyers are proficient in appellate law. Not only does appellate work
provide the opportunity to focus intellectually on legal issues in a way not
always possible at the trial-court level, but appellate experience also
imparts an understanding of error preservation that is invaluable at the
trial-court level.
